For those following our blogs, you would already be familiar with the phases of metabolism; and now we thought we would share tips on optimising your metabolism and health with the beneficial morning routine.
First thing we teach our students in regards to the overall health, is the apparent intake of water throughout the day. However, the first thing you have in the morning when you wake up, is warm water with a freshly squeezed lemon. This is very good to get rid of the toxins from the day before. This will also speed up your metabolism.
Following the lemon water, you need to wait for 10-15 minutes and then have your morning juice. Freshly squeezed is definitely the better option than bottled juice, as you get all the nutrients from the ingredients. Make sure to have a green juice, and not a fruit juice – as these tend to have a lot of sugar in them from the fructose. You can add a fruit or 2 to your green juice, to add more flavour though. Here is what we recommend including in your green juicing:
• Apple or Pear
• Chia Seeds
• Psyllium Husk – for fibre
• Ginger – to prep the stomach
• Turmeric Powder or Cinnamon – to enhance the strength of the juice
Following the juice, you need to wait another 10-15 minutes for the ingredients to activate in your body, to assist with flushing out the toxins from the night before, to hydrate you and most importantly to alkalise your body. After your lemon water and the green juice, you can have your breakfast.
Do not forget to drink water throughout the day, and especially 15-20 minutes before meals. This will line the stomach and optimise it for digestion.
Sohial very thoroughly explains this further in the little snippet of the Online Model Course’s nutrition chapter, and our Comprehensive Model Course students of course have this module as the first official module of the 11 week training. You can watch the video here:
